March Madness betting lines are the second most popular feature in Las Vegas next to the Super Bowl. Each year millions of sports betting enthusiasts place wagers on their favorite college basketball teams, in hopes of predicting that year’s champion. Today we will be looking at the teams with the best possible odds to win the 2011 March Madness tournament.

After an absolute throttling of Indiana on the weekend, the Ohio State Buckeyes began Monday morning sitting atop the AP 25 standings for the second time this season. The Buckeyes led by all world freshmen Jarred Sullinger have accumulated an overall record of 27 wins and two losses. As a result of their first overall status, they now have odds of four to one to win the tournament. In our opinion, now is the time for bettors to take the Buckeyes to win the March madness tournament, as in two weeks time when March Madness begins, the Buckeyes may have lower odds than four to one. Meaning to say, you can still make a decent amount of money on the Buckeyes at four to one if they win the tournament.

While the Buckeyes and fellow juggernauts Duke, Pitt and Texas all have great odds at winning this year’s March Madness tournament, fans looking for middle of the pack teams to pull off the upset should look no further than the Mountain West Conference. This season, the BYU Cougars and San Diego State Aztecs have put together rather impressive campaigns. However, because each team plays in the Mountain West Conference, which in basketball isn’t very good, the odds of the two teams winning March Madness are lower than the juggernauts.

For instance, despite being ranked third in the nation, the BYU Cougars led by Jimmer Fredette, have odds of 30 to one to win the March Madness tournament. Over the weekend, BYU decimated San Diego State, whose odds are 25 to one. What we saw in that game, was a Cougar squad that has more stardom than Fredette. Essentially, going into the tournament the BYU Cougars do not appear to be the one trick pony so many experts and fans have made them out to be.
