With the NBA fishing games season in doubt thanks to a lockout this offseason, many college hoops stars that should have been one and done, have returned for another season. While the Harrison Barnes, Jarred Sullinger’s and Terrence Jones of the NCAA take all the limelight, a plethora of underrated stars will do their best to put together strong seasons in 2011 – 12. Here is a sports betting look at a few players fans should keep their eyes on this season.
Chance Stanback SF UNLV Rebels – When it comes to the Mountain West Conference of the NCAA basketball, it is rare to hear about anyone not attending BYU or San Diego State. Enter six foot eight senior Chance Stanback, who leads a group of returnees to UNLV that could allow the team to jump over both of the aforementioned BYU and San Diego.
Last season, Stanback put together a respectable season, as he averaged 13 points and just under six rebounds a game. Stanback is expected to be a centerpiece of the Rebels starting five this season. However, his status is also dependent on punishment for off court issues.
Bernard James C Florida State Seminoles – At 26 years of age, James is one of the oldest players in NCAA basketball. Nevertheless, James is technically a sophomore at Florida State, as last year the six foot 10 center helped guide the Seminoles to being ranked the number one defense in the nation. It seems unlikely, that an NBA team next June would draft James, however crazier things have happened.
Kendall Marshall SG North Carolina Tarheels – While teammates Harrison Barnes, Tyler Zeller and John Henson make up one of the scariest frontcourts in the NCAA, starting shooting guard Kendall Marshall goes unnoticed by everyone else. Last season, when Marshall finally cracked the starting lineup, the Tarheels were able to take off and go on a meteoric run in the March Madness tournament. This year, Marshall’s return can’t be emphasized enough as an important move.
